Unemployment rise

The latest unemployment figures show an increase of sixteen hundred on last month. More than forty-nine thousand people are now on the dole.

With that in mind it's perhaps difficult to understand a new report from the Ulster Bank which says the most intense phase of the recession may have passed. Although it says any significant improvement will still take a long time.

Strabane is a town that's experienced mixed fortunes in recent months.
