Queue for dentist in Irvinestown

NHS dentist shortage

Hundreds of people have queued for hours in County Fermanagh to register with a new dentist who offers NHS treatment.

When word spread that a new dental practice in Irvinestown was taking on patients on the National Health Service, hundreds of people braved all weathers to try to get their name on the list.

For some time now, there has been a shortage of public dentists across Northern Ireland, but the demand in western counties is particularly high.

Our reporter in the area, Julian Fowler, has been finding out the extent of the problem.
