200 jobs lost this week

An announcement from AVX in Coleraine followed news of 99 redundancies at the Carrick car-parts firm Ryobi

AVX's 390 strong workforce make electronic components. Today, they learned that just over 90 of them are to be made redundant.

Our reporter Nicola Weir reports on how the closure of one of the biggest factories in the area is a tremendous blow.

There's also been confirmation that all Northern Ireland's Woolworths' stores will shut by January 5, bringing further hardship for hundreds of families. Among the first to close will be the stores in Ballymena, Armagh and Portadown.

In Carrickfergus Chris Page assesses the impact of the 100 jobs lost at Ryobi.
