Frosses road to get dualled

The Frosses Road, which runs from Ballymena to Ballmoney, is a notorious stretch of road - a route where many have lost their lives.

As the death toll increased, so did the calls for the it to be made safer. It's now been announced that about five miles of it will be dualled - a project that will cost £52 million. Land will have to be vested and farmers and landowners are working out what they means to them. It won't be a straightforward job - there's the famous Frosses Trees to think about - and while the plan is to bypass them, conservationists are determined they won't be forgotten. And for those travelling up and down this well used road, don't worry - the road work signs will not be going up just yet - the Department says it could take up to five years to complete their consultations will all relevant parties - and only then will the bulldozers move in.
