The 1975 have been added to the bill for Radio 1's Big Weekend in Exeter.

The band, who released their second album last week, are joining Coldplay, Bring Me The Horizon, Chase & Status, Craig David and Ellie Goulding.

More artists will be announced soon with ticketing details for Exeter's Powderham Castle revealed on 21 March.

Big Weekend is Europe's largest free ticketed festival and as usual, the majority of people going will be from the local area.

The festival takes place on 28 and 29 May in Devon.

The 1975 frontman Matthew Healy said: "We're really excited to be playing in Exeter for Radio 1's Big Weekend.

"We loved playing Londonderry and Glasgow and are really pleased to be heading back for a third time."

Jack Bugg, best known for songs like Two Fingers and Lightning Bolt, has also been added to the line-up after appearing in Derry in 2013 and in Glasgow the following year.

Radio 1 and BBC Learning will again produce Radio 1's Academy, which aims to inspire 16 to 19-year-olds in the local area to take the next step in their careers.

It'll include a series of special events in April and May such as radio shows, gigs, masterclasses and Q&As.
