Justin Bieber has said making his new album, Purpose, was the first time he's felt in control of his career.
He told the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw that he hasn't been able "to make the music I wanted to make" before.
The 21-year-old said: "I was really young and I had people telling me what to record, giving me songs and stuff.
"I'm glad now that I really have a say in what I do and feel like this is my project."

Justin Bieber was speaking to Nick Grimshaw
The singer compared his career to another famous Justin to explain what he meant.
"It didn't feel like my music. It was but it wasn't.
"Look at Justin Timberlake, he was in N Sync and - of course - they had an amazing sound but it was young. It was for teenagers.
"I feel like he transitioned when he started making Sexy Back and stuff.
"It takes time as an artist for you to develop your style and develop what you like and what you don't like."
There's a lot of purpose to the album

In 2014, the singer was accused of driving while under the influence of marijuana and prescription drugs. In court, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of careless driving.
Justin, who recently told Newsbeat he's had a tough time growing up in the public eye, acknowledged this album is an important one and carries a certain message for him and his fans.
He said: "The reason I called it Purpose is because for a while there I lost my purpose. I feel like I found my purpose again."
"No matter how far you feel like you are away from yourself or you feel like you don't have your purpose, or you don't know what your purpose is or you feel like you lost your purpose, there's always room to find that purpose again."

Justin won five awrads at this year's MTV EMAs in Milan
The lead single from the album, What Do You Mean?, spent a total of five weeks at number one in the UK and he's said he'll punch himself in the face if people don't like the next single Sorry.
But Justin said he doesn't measure success purely on chart positions.
"It's not like I have to get a number one to succeed. I succeeded when I recorded. I was able to do what I love and put it on pen and paper."
Help from Kanye, Ed Sheeran and 'people who don't really do anything'

Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran worked together on a track for the album
The singer worked with Kanye West on the album, Ed Sheeran co-wrote one of the tracks and Diplo and Skrillex produced large parts of Purpose.
And although he enjoyed working with all of them, Justin said he was constantly thinking about what the fans' view on his new music.
"You never know what people are going to like," he explained.
"I got some friends who live in Canada, and they don't really do anything.
"All they do is listen to music, so I just bounce ideas off them. [I say] 'Do you think people our age, and dudes are going to like this music?'
"Pop is turned into something it shouldn't be. It means the majority of the people like the music."
