The final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now. For many, it's the most exciting thing that's happened since the time the last trailer came out.

The film is released on 17 December and cinema booking lines have gone into meltdown as they try to cope with demand for tickets.

But for others, the whole hype around Star Wars remains a tedious mystery.

Here, Newsbeat's Chris Smith has a message for all the haters...

"I just don't get it, I'm afraid."

"I've never even seen the original one."

"I just hate all that sci-fi stuff."

Check out John Boyega and Daisy Ridley's reactions to the trailer at the bottom of this article.

One thing that every Star Wars fan will have to deal with over the next couple of months is comments like this.

It's baffling.

It's like walking into a Christmas market, biffing someone's mulled wine out of their hand and saying, "Bah, I hate all that Christmas nonsense. Lot of hype. Never even saw the original".

In the immortal words of Master Yoda: "Hate haters gonna."

But allow me to riposte.

It's 10 years since the last Star Wars film came out. But it's 32 since the last good one came out.

Please allow us fans just a little bit of excitement.

One of the biggest film franchises of all time has been handed to some clever people who love it.

And if you're feeling patriotic, it's given a stellar boost to some brilliant UK talent - and it was made in Britain too.

So, to all those people moaning that they don't get the hype - you're effectively standing on a beach saying you don't get all the hype about the sea.

A massive wave is about to break, so you may as well grab your trunks.

JJ's nailed it

Much is being written about the fact that JJ Abrams isn't giving away much of the plot. But in fact that just proves how smart he is.

When The Phantom Menace came out, we were treated to several trailers, a novelisation and even the opening "crawl" of the film had been released ahead of time, with its fateful line, "the taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute".

I mean, what?

This time, the fact that JJ doesn't need to give much away should be encouraging to all of us.

It means he knows he's nailed it.

Why don't we get to see Luke Skywalker's face? Because we want to see it for the first time on a really, really big screen on 17 December (or very soon afterwards).

The hints of the story that we do get are enough, and they all hark back to the original Star Wars from 1977.

A youngster on a desert world who looks to the skies and dreams of getting away.

A wise old figure who leads a disillusioned young man away on an adventure.

And of course the really good stuff - cool robots, space battles, sword fights and Stormtroopers' armour still not being any protection whatsoever against blaster fire.

Great shot, kid. That was one in a million.
