The Milibrand interview's seven intriguing moments

Amid water swigs, impressive taps, euphoria and close encounters there were odd moments in the Milibrand interview.

Russell Brand, the man who freely admits he has never voted, spoke to Ed Miliband in his kitchen.

The trailer alone sparked a wave of excitement in the newspapers with The Sun declaring: "Mockney Miliband cosies up with Brand."

So is it a big election moment like everyone's saying?

Not really, but the interview on Brand's YouTube channel The Trews, is a bit strange. Here's why.

The longest questions ever, mate?

Russell Brand is not known for being concise and true to form he talks a lot for an interviewer.

His first question is 54 seconds long. Which is what's known as an "easy ride" in political PR terms. A lot of the interview is filled by Brand talking about bad powerful people while Miliband says "Hmm" in the background.

Five 'that's wrongs'

When he does get the chance to speak, Ed Miliband says "that's wrong" or "that's not true" five times.

Change is a combination of "politics and people", he says to Brand's claim that nothing ever changes. And by the end, you get the feeling Brand is coming round to the idea of voting after all.

Body bubble

Brand's key interview technique is the invasion of the "body bubble" - moving in so close, his guest is forced to lean back and worry about his breath.

He deploys this to the max here, looming towards Mr Miliband repeatedly, beads swaying.

The upshot is, unsurprisingly, awkwardness. And some very defensively crossed arms from the Labour leader. Lovely sink though, Russell.

Brand's bottle

We're not talking about the bravery of his questioning. We're talking about Brand's apparent lack of drinking vessels, despite having a kitchen better equipped than Jamie Oliver's.

Five minutes into the interview, his thirst becomes so overwhelming that he grabs a large water bottle and swigs straight from it. The nation's mums (and dads) will tut. Ed Miliband managed to get through the whole interview without any grand gestures of rehydration.

Zero Trews contracts?

When the issue of zero-hours contracts crops up, Brand points to his production staff and says "all this lot are on 'em".

Mr Miliband responds: "I'm sure they're not, otherwise I'll get very angry with you." The awkward-o-meter cranks up a notch.

'I'm not looking for euphoria'

This is Ed Miliband's response when Brand references the sense of disappointment some people felt after voting for Tony Blair and Barack Obama in the US.

"We want a bloke who can take on the powerful," says Brand.

Miliband says "giddy euphoria" is not what he wants either.

Some more agreeing, err, happens. Newsbeat's Chris Smith this is not.

Brand's hand

Has Russell got himself a serious Henna tattoo or did he write the interview notes on his hand?
