US says Islamic State has committed genocide

The US Secretary of State has accused the Islamic State group of committing genocide against Christians and other minorities in Iraq and Syria.

This is only the second time an American administration has made such a designation during an ongoing conflict but it will do nothing to change US policy or actions on the ground.
