US auto industry bounces back
Detroit was the birthplace of the auto industry, but in 2009 it nearly died there.
General Motors and Chrysler stood on the brink of bankruptcy, their finance arms affected by the credit crunch and their manufacturing a victim of the resulting downturn. They also encountered large overhanging pension problems.
But now Detroit is bouncing back to life.
