Sudan's Sadeq al-Mahdi: Split is a 'lost opportunity'
Domestic and foreign dignitaries are arriving in the South Sudanese capital, Juba, for the independence ceremony to be held on 9 July.
But while the south celebrates its secession, opinion in the north is divided over the split.
The leader of the Islamist opposition Umma party, Sadeq al-Mahdi, told the BBC's Hassan Arouni that his party considers it a lost opportunity.
