Chris Hondros in Libya: The last photographs
American photographer Chris Hondros was killed while photographing Libyan rebels during house-to-house fighting in Tripoli Street, Misrata - the scene of some of the most intense fighting in the city. These are some of the last photographs he took.
Rebel fighters fire at a building they have surrounded in Tripoli Street, Misrata. The upper floors of the building have been taken over by government troops.
Inside the Tripoli Street building, rebels move towards trapped government troops on the upper floors.
Amid smoke and flames a rebel fighter runs up a burning stairwell of the building.
Working out how to dislodge government troops from the building in Misrata required hasty discussions.
During the assault the rebels sustained some casualties. Here they carry out a comrade wounded in the assault on the building in Tripoli Street.
