Tributes have been paid to a man who died after an agricultural spraying vehicle rolled into a golf course lake at Newport's Celtic Manor Resort.

Ollie Floyd, 20, from Ross-on-Wye, died following the incident on the Twenty Ten course on Tuesday morning, Gwent Police said.

Ross RFC, where Mr Floyd was a player, described him as a "passionate" and "talented" member of the club.

Police and Newport council are continuing to investigate his death.

Fire crews were called to the resort, which hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup and the 2014 Nato summit, before 08:00 GMT on Tuesday.

A second man, 46, who was also in the vehicle, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"A big thank you to the ground staff at the Celtic Manor Resort and the overwhelming support from friends," Mr Floyd's family said in a statement.

Brian Harris, a friend of Mr Floyd's at Ross RFC, said he was "a very cheerful, popular and a lively young man who lived life to the full".

"The lives of many have been made richer through knowing him - he will be greatly missed in the club."

On Tuesday, a spokesman for the Celtic Manor Resort said staff were co-operating with the inquiry and their thoughts were with Mr Floyd's family.
