  • Published

Pope Benedict XVI's four-day visit to Britain will begin in Scotland on Thursday, 16 September.

He will fly from Rome into Edinburgh Airport and travel from there into the capital to meet the Queen at Holyroodhouse. The Pope will then get into his popemobile and take a 3.5 mile journey, passing thousands of well-wishers, to the Morningside residence of Cardinal Keith O'Brien.

After a lunch with Scotland's Roman Catholic Church leader, Pope Benedict will travel along the M8 to Glasgow for an open-air Mass at Bellahouston Park.
