Benefits Street filmed on Kingston Road in Stockton

A Teesside street has been chosen as the location for a new series of the controversial reality TV show Benefits Street.

Crews from Love Productions, which makes the show, have begun filming residents on Kingston Road in Stockton.

Critics of the Channel 4 programme have said it stigmatises the poor, and residents in Stockton have expressed concern it may portray the town in a bad light.

But its producers say it is a sympathetic portrayal of communities going through hard times.

Peter Harris reports.
