The Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company has played a major part in the manufacturing heritage of the north-east of England over the years.

The Darlington-based business was established in 1877 and has built structures all over the world. A collection of photos has gone on show documenting its bridge building during the 1930s and 1940s.

Photographer Hugh Devlin took pictures of the company's workers during the construction of bridges between 1938 and 1946.

Visitors to the exhibition are invited to share any knowledge of people or areas in the photographs with the museum.

Some of the older projects by the company include Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge (1911), Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia (1932) and Victoria Falls Railway Bridge in Zimbabwe (1905).

The exhibition will be on display until at the Darlington Railway Museum until 9 June.
