Four men have been jailed for an attack on a young father that left him with "catastrophic" brain injuries.

Alfie Peak, then 25, was set upon on Sea Road, Bexhill on 27 July 2013 after a row inside the USA Fried Chicken takeaway spilled out on to the street.

Hove Crown Court sentenced Thomas Unwin, 25, and John Panice and Stephen Luck, both 26, to 14 years in prison.

Zack Dangerfield, 25, was jailed for 13 years. All four had been found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Dangerfield, of Preston Road, Bexhill, and Unwin, of High Street, Ripley in Derbyshire, had returned to the scene after the attack to laugh as Mr Peak was being treated, Sussex Police said.

Dangerfield was detained later that day and Unwin was arrested three days later.

Dangerfield named Panice, of Wartlington Drive, Bexhill, and Luck, of Kinscott Close, Bexhill who were arrested shortly afterwards.

All four had been convicted at Hove Crown Court on Wednesday.
