Teenager in court over Sheffield shop death

A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with murdering a man who died in hospital nine days after being assaulted in a Sheffield street.

The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, is alleged to have killed Ahmed Sayeed Adan, 40, from the Burngreave area of the city.

Mr Adan died from head injuries after being attacked outside Emin Supermarket in Spital Hill in November.

The teenager was remanded to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 6 January.

A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident is on police bail.
