The death of an 18-year-old student whose body was discovered in a river did not involve another person, police have said.

Caroline Everest, 18, was last seen at the Corporation nightclub in Sheffield on 22 November.

Her body was discovered two days later in the Porter Brook river, near Ecclesall Road.

A 31-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of rape has been released with no further action, officers said.

Miss Everest's family meanwhile has paid tribute to their "treasured, perfect daughter".

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances leading to Miss Everest's death and are studying CCTV.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact South Yorkshire Police.
