A new piece of track will link Oxford's city centre station with Oxford Parkway
The first direct train service between Oxford city centre and London Marylebone will start in December, it has been announced.
A new line connecting Oxford Parkway and the capital opened last October, with the city centre service planned for spring this year.
Chiltern Railways said it still had to build a final section of track linking Oxford Parkway with the city centre.
The new service is due to start on 12 December.
"Time required for discharge of planning consents, construction, testing of the infrastructure and training of drivers has led to an expected December launch," a spokeswoman explained.
The route will also see trains running between Oxford city centre and Bicester Village.
Oxford Parkway was the first new station to open in Oxfordshire since 1944.
