One of Caroline Green's jobs will be to help tackle the city's housing shortage

Oxford City Council's new assistant chief executive has started in the role.

Caroline Green was appointed to the newly-created post, which was advertised with an annual salary of £92,000, earlier this year.

Her responsibilities include working with external partners to tackle the city's housing shortage and boosting education standards.

Ms Green arrives after 10 years at the Local Government Association (LGA).

During her time at the LGA she was a lead advisor on housing and planning issues.

She will report to chief executive Peter Sloman and senior councillors.

Ms Green will take charge of 10 to 15 employees and a £1.1m budget.
