In pictures: Ed Sheeran gig at Norwich Waterfront
Chart-breaking acoustic star Ed Sheeran made a welcome return to East Anglia to play in front of hundreds of fans during the first of a record three nights at the Norwich Waterfront on 11 July. Photographs by Zoe Applegate.
The 20-year-old Suffolk singer-songwriter made a name for himself touring the pubs and bars of Norwich and his hard work paid off after he was given a contract with Atlantic Records at the start of the year.
Following appearances on Later With Jools Holland and Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show, his first major label single The A Team charted at number three. The song has now been certified silver selling 200,000 copies.
Fans queued outside the sold-out Waterfront from midday for the opening gig, where Ed started his set with Lately before ending with new single You Need Me, I Don't Need You.
Joining Ed for a rendition of The A Team was Mikill Pane. The guest artist almost missed the gig after still being stuck in London at 1930 BST.
Ed continued his growing success after performing a number of impromptu sets and a highly praised headlining slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival in June.
Before hitting the big time Ed was championed by new music radio shows BBC Introducing in Suffolk and Norfolk. With the latter he performed The A Team at a packed student house party in Norwich which became a YouTube hit.
Ed's debut album "+" is out in September before the singer returns for another Norwich gig at the University of East Anglia in October. He is also playing this weekend's Latitude Festival at Henham Park in Southwold.
