Anthony Simpson admitted possession of heroin with intent to supply
A drug dealer who kept heroin worth £195,000 in a safe at his home on Merseyside has been jailed.
Anthony Simpson was arrested after a police locksmith broke open the safe during a raid at his home in Thackray Road, St Helens, in August.
He later admitted possession of heroin with intent to supply and was jailed for five years, four months at Liverpool Crown Court.
Police said the 41-year-old was part of a wider drug dealing network.
However, it is understood he refused to provide officers with details of other offenders, leading the court to impose a more lengthy sentence.
Inspector Martin Earl, of Merseyside Police, said: "This was part of a coordinated operation utilising officers from specialist departments and a substantial quantity of drugs has been prevented from reaching the streets of St Helens.
"Such a positive result was made possible as a result of community intelligence and we would like to reassure the public that we will respond diligently to any information we receive."
