In pictures: Manchester City's new training academy
Manchester City has unveiled pictures of what its proposed new training and youth development complex, to be built alongside the Etihad Stadium in Openshaw, Manchester, will look like.
The complex centres around a 7,000-seat youth stadium, which will host the club's reserve and youth team matches, as well as some community and amateur football events.
Surrounding the small stadium will be 17 first team and youth training pitches of various sizes, which will host around 400 academy players training and studying alongside senior players.
It will also have on-site accommodation and schooling for 40 of the best players, to allow them to concentrate on their football while also completing their studies.
The plans for the complex have been put in front of Manchester City Council for final approval and the club hopes that work can start on the complex in 2012.
