The car was seen swerving along the M1 northbound at junction 24, near East Midlands Airport
Footage has been released of the moment a policeman forced a car to stop using his own vehicle when the driver fell into a diabetic coma.
The woman and her 18-month-old child were in the vehicle when she fell unconscious on a motorway.
PC Daniel Pattison responded to reports of the Peugeot 208 swerving and colliding with the central reservation on the M1 in Leicestershire.
He pulled up next to the car and pushed it into the hard shoulder barrier.
"Had it not been for the actions of the officers bringing my car to a stop, I dread to think what the outcome may have been or how many people could have been involved in a potentially fatal accident," said the 34-year-old driver, who asked not to be named.
"When I was told exactly what had happened I was very emotional."

It happened on 11 April but PC Pattison has now been given a Chief Constable's Commendation.
Leicestershire Police call takers Alex Kimber and Steve Bates also received awards for their help.

The control room received calls after the Peugeot 208 was seen swerving on the A42, before going on the M1.
PC Pattison told the Leicester Mercury, external he "felt helpless and my heart sank" as he saw the driver.
"Her head was completely thrown back and she was staring at the roof of the car, she was obviously unconscious," he said.

"I looked in the back of the car and saw a young child - about 18 months old.
"I thought 'this is going to end up with her and the baby getting killed'."
