If plans are approved, a cinema could be built next to the new bus station at Grimsby's Riverhead Square
Grimsby bus station has reopened as part of a £6m transformation of the town centre.
It comes on the same day as an announcement that the old bus station, also at Riverhead Square, could become a multiplex cinema.
North East Lincolnshire Council said the entertainment venue would cost up to £12m and generate 200 jobs.
If approved on 31 March, the council would transfer the land to the owners of the shopping centre, F&C REIT.
The cinema would then be built as part of the neighbouring Freshney Place shopping centre.
Council leader Chris Shaw said an entertainment venue next to the new bus station would be "a catalyst to stimulate more investment, generate economic growth and ultimately create more jobs in Grimsby".
Opening of the new bus station at Riverhead Square was delayed by a week because of faulty construction of the bus shelters.
