A car was lifted into the air and "flipped" on to another by the crane of a moving lorry in Hampshire, an onlooker has said.

The lorry damaged three cars at Aston Road Industrial Estate in Waterlooville, Adam Parks, who works at the site, said.

"It set off down the road without the crane being retracted," he added.

Walsall-based WP Metals Limited, which owns the lorry, said it was investigating. No-one was injured.

Mr Parks said the truck had not long set off from a delivery at the industrial estate when "it collided with the roof of one car, smashing the windscreen and roof".

"The hook on the end [of the crane] went through the window of a second car and lifted it up into the air, and then it was flipped and landed on the bonnet of the third car," he added.

"At that point he [the driver] jumped out pretty sharpish."

Patrick Doyle, managing director of WP Metals Limited, said he had not yet spoken to the driver but added the incident was being dealt with by its insurance company.

He added the firm was "fully covered".

Hampshire Constabulary said it was not investigating.
