Flooding closes Southampton flyover

Flooding led to the closure of a section of one of the major routes out of Southampton city centre earlier.

The A33 Mountbatten Way flyover was closed westbound from the Southern Road junction due to deep flood water on the road.

The council's highways department said the water had subsided and the road was passable with care.

It warned a high tide due shortly before 09:00 GMT could force the road to close again.
