There has been a ferry link on the route for about 500 years
A new £3m ferry that will operate between Gosport and Portsmouth is undergoing final tests before going into service later this month.
Harbour Spirit was built in Croatia and will replace the Spirit of Gosport which has been carrying up to 3,000 people a day for 49 years.
The new vessel can carry up to 300 passengers on each crossing of Portsmouth Harbour.
It will be named on Wednesday, with public tours on Thursday.

Rowing boats were first used to ferry passengers across the harbour
The service is a vital link out of Gosport and an alternative to congested roads.
The old ferry, which was built in 1966, is to be broken up and used for spares.
A Gosport Ferry service has been in operation for 500 years, with rowing boats first used to transport passengers.
