Seaweed causes stink on Isle of Wight beach

Help

Residents in Ryde, Isle of Wight, have been living with a stench from rotting seaweed which smells like raw sewage.

The warm weather has made the odour from the seaweed so pungent it is making people feel sick.

Diggers have been brought in to scoop about 300 tonnes of the washed-up seaweed off the beach.

It will be taken to agricultural fields on the west of the island and used as fertilizer.
