A man has been shot while sitting in his van at a road junction in Essex.
The victim suffered "life-changing" injuries after he was shot between London Road and Stanford Road in Stanford-le-Hope on Tuesday evening.
Essex Police said the gunman was reported to have driven off at speed in silver Mercedes C-Class car.
London Road has been closed between Stanford Road and the Butts Lane roundabout while forensics officers collect evidence.

Det Insp Al Pitcher said officers were carrying house-to-house inquiries.

"At this time of night," he said, "there would have been a lot of people, including motorists heading home, in this area and we would appeal for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch."
He said the victim was believed to be a man in his 50s who lives in the area.
