Boy, 15, killed in Santon Bridge van crash

A 15-year-old cyclist has been killed after being struck by a van in West Cumbria.

Cumbria Police said the boy was riding his bike on a country road at Santon Bridge, near Gosforth, at 11:00 BST on Saturday when the crash happened.

He was flown to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary with severe head, back and neck injuries where he died a short time later.

Officers are appealing for witnesses. The boy's name has not been released.
