The site is a haven for adders and hen harriers
About £200,000 is to be spent improving the habitat of an area of the Lake District in order to attract more species.
The Cumbria Wildlife Trust (CWT) will restore meadows and make bogs wetter in Eycott Hill, near Keswick.
The site is already home to owls and hen harriers. The CWT wants to attract species such as adders and dragonflies.
The grant has been awarded by Wren, a non profit-making body that awards money generated by landfill tax.
