A major housing development on 114 acres (46 hectares) of farmland in Cambridgeshire is to go ahead.
Huntingdon District Council has approved a plan for 750 homes, a primary school, shops and offices on a development near Godmanchester.
The main development at Bearscroft Farm will be alongside the A1198 road.
Protestors said planners had ignored the views of Godmanchester Town Council, Huntingdon Town Council and four district and county councillors.
"It is too large, it would increase the size of the town by a third," Mayor of Godmanchester David Underwood said. "The town does not have the infrastructure to cope.
"Children would have to cross the busy A1198 to get to school. There would be more traffic through the already congested local streets adding to the problems of parking in the town and queues at peak times."
The development has support from some of Godmanchester's traders and shop owners. Adam Beeby, from Belman's Bakery, said it would be good for business.
