A new road bridge has been lifted into place, external over the River Frome in South Gloucestershire.

It is one of the first in the UK to be made from composite materials similar to those used in modern aircraft, South Gloucestershire Council said.

The authority said the new bridge in Frampton Cotterell was "lighter, stronger and more resistant to corrosion than traditional materials".

Church Road is expected to be reopened to traffic from early September.
