Eighteen manhole covers have been stolen across North Somerset over the past three days.
The council is warning pedestrians and motorists that there will be large holes in roads until they can replace the covers.
It is believed the covers, taken from Backwell, Burrington, Worle, Chew Stoke, Clevedon and Churchill, were stolen to be sold as scrap.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity near a manhole should call the police.
