A 15-year-old boy has been attacked and stabbed several times while travelling on a bus.

The boy, who was taken to hospital in a critical condition, is thought to have been on the top deck of the number 14 service in Alum Rock Road, Birmingham.

Several passengers called 999 to report an attack on the number 14 bus on Tuesday evening, West Midlands Police said.

Another 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

The injured boy is no longer critical and continues to recover from his injuries, the force said.

Police said they were called to the scene at 19:20 GMT before the teenager was taken to hospital.
