Birmingham riot victim's father Tariq Jahan appears in court

A man who appealed for calm after his son was killed during the Birmingham riots has appeared in court accused of a separate allegation of wounding.

Tariq Jahan was praised by police for his dignity during the city riots in August when his son Haroon was killed as he protected shops from looters.

Mr Jahan, 46, was charged over an alleged road-rage incident on 6 July.

He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court earlier and is due to appear again on 21 November.

Mr Jahan, who was awarded a Pride of Britain award on 3 October, was originally charged with causing grievous bodily harm without intent before it was reduced to wounding.
