
Michael Wheatley, nicknamed "Skull Cracker", was arrested in May
A man accused of helping a fugitive armed robber nicknamed "Skull Cracker" has been sentenced to 12 months in jail.
Kevin Perry, 53, of West India Dock Road, London, pleaded guilty to perverting the court of justice at Guildford Crown Court.
He was accused of helping Michael Wheatley, 55, who was at large from HMP Standford Hill on the Isle of Sheppey.
Wheatley robbed a Surrey building society before being arrested on 7 May.
Perry also pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods but pleaded not guilty to assisting an offender.
The court decided that charge would remain on file.
