Fifa inspectors have toured facilities at Sunderland and Newcastle football grounds as part of England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
The delegation arrived in the north-east of England on Tuesday as part of their four-day visit to England.
They visited St James' Park and the Stadium of Light to inspect facilities before writing a report on England's bid to host the event.
Sunderland and Newcastle have been named as Candidate Host Cities.
The six-man Fifa team has already visited London and will also go to Manchester.
Legacy left
The hosts for the 2018 World Cup will be announced on 2 December. Russia are thought to be one of England's strongest rivals for the event.
Sunderland's chairman Niall Quinn said: "An important part of our bid is the young people and the legacy that will be left for them.
"We wanted the delegation to understand that we are not just a stadium that opens on match days."
At Newcastle's St James' Park, former player Peter Beardsley was part of a welcoming committee.
He said: "It would be incredible if we get World Cup football here.
"This is my home city and I would be so proud if we could pull it off."
