Heavy snow has been seen in many parts of the UK, causing disruption and school closures in some areas. Here are some of the best images from Thursday.

In Northern Ireland, many roads were affected and a number of bus routes were hit. This vehicle is seen on Hannahstown Hill, Belfast.

Hector, a Spanish Water Dog, is content to chase his ball in the Belfast snow. A yellow warning for snow remains in place in Northern Ireland until 11:00 GMT on Friday.

More than 100 schools in Northern Ireland were closed as result of the weather. In Ballynahinch, Co. Down, this horse needed an extra layer to keep warm.

In Scotland, some Highland areas saw up to 23cm (9ins) of snow. There was slightly less in Coatbridge, near Glasgow, where people were seen out walking on Thursday.

This man made the most of the conditions, which are set to continue into Friday in Scotland.

In Falkrik, beside the Kelpies, a man walks his dog. An amber "be prepared" warning is still in place for much of Scotland.

Snow also hit parts of England, including this house in Tow Law, County Durham.

In Manchester, flights were suspended for about four hours as snow ploughs worked to clear the runways.

Flights resumed in the afternoon, but a spokesperson said they were subject to delays.
