Justin Lee Collins was found guilty of harassing his ex-girlfriend
Comedian Justin Lee Collins has denied that he is taking part in next year's Celebrity Big Brother.
The 38-year-old, who was found guilty in October of harassing former girlfriend Anna Larke, admitted he had been approached but turned it down.
Miss Larke's brother had launched a petition to stop him taking part.
"He was approached by the programme and although he was thrilled to have been asked, he declined the offer several weeks ago," said a statement.
"To be clear, this decision is in no way connected to Alex Larke's petition."
Justin Lee Collins denied a charge of harassment causing fear of violence but was found guilty and sentenced to 140 hours of unpaid work.
Jurors at St Albans Crown Court heard how Anna Larke was verbally and physically attacked by the comedian and presenter.
Channel 5 has said it never confirms Celebrity Big Brother housemates before broadcast.
Brian Dowling returns to host the main show in January 2013, with Emma Willis hosting its spin-off Bit on the Side programme.
