    Police have released images of a large number of items thought to have been stolen in the hope of finding their owners.

    The items, which include watches and jewellery, were recovered from a property in Eleanor Street Grimsby, on Saturday.

    Anyone who recognises any of the items is asked to contact Humberside Police.

    A 75-year-old man has died in hospital nine days after he was hit by a car in North Hykeham.

    The man was crossing Newark Road when he was knocked down by a blue Honda CR-V at about 22:10 on 11 January.

    The crash happened between St Aiden's Road and the ASDA roundabout.

    Lincolnshire Police have appealed for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the Honda before the crash to get in touch.

    Two Lincolnshire councils have banned the release of Chinese lanterns and balloons from public land over animal welfare and environment concerns.

    South Kesteven District Council and West Lindsey District Council voted to prohibit releases in council-owned parks and open spaces.

    Councillors at both authorities said sky lanterns were “impossible to control” and can pose a choking or entanglement hazard to natural wildlife and livestock.

    The number of primary schools in Lincolnshire to receive a "good" or "outstanding" rating in the last 12 months has fallen.

    According to Ofsted's latest figures, 85% of the county's primaries reached the two top grades, down 2% on the previous year.

    The county council says it's working together on a single countywide improvement plan to ensure better outcomes for local children.

  7. Plane crash memorial service takes place in Cardiffpublished at 14:51 GMT 21 January 2020

    A service has been held at Cardiff's Catholic cathedral in memory of Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala and Lincolnshire pilot David Ibbotson.

    Sala, 28, and pilot David Ibbotson, 59, from Crowle, crashed on 21 January while travelling from Nantes in France to Cardiff on 21 January last year.

    Sala had been flying to join Cardiff when the light aircraft he was in crashed into the sea near the Channel Islands.

    It took rescuers two weeks to find the wreckage of the plane.

    The footballer's body was recovered on 8 February after a private rescue team took over the search. The body of Mr Ibbotson has never been found.

    Air accident investigators say they'll publish the results of their inquiry into the crash at the end of March.

    A 19-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating a sex attack on a woman in Lincoln city centre at the weekend.

    The assault happened at about 06:30 on Saturday morning near the Tentercroft Street Car Park.

    Police stepped up patrols in the wake of the incident.

    Officers say they now want anyone who may have suffered a similar attack in the area to come forward.

    A body found in the River Witham is believed to be that of a Lincolnshire woman who went missing last week.

    Julie Walsh disappeared from her home in Washingborough last Thursday.

    The death is not being treated as suspicious and Ms Walsh's family has been informed, police say.

    One of the youngest council leaders in the country has stepped down after just six months in the role in Lincolnshire.

    Conservative Councillor Aaron Spencer, who took on the job at Boston Borough Council in July last year at the age of 27, has resigned as leader of the council and moved to become an independent.

    Mr Spencer accused his former party of conspiring against him and said he had been given an option to resign or face a vote of no confidence.

    Releasing Chinese lanterns or balloons on special occasions looks set to be restricted in South Kesteven.

    Councillors are due to decide later whether to ban them from land owned by the authority.

    The ban is expected to pass because of concerns the lanterns can injure wildlife and livestock.

    Lisa Tyler is about 5ft fins tall and of medium build, according to police.

    Officers say they're especially concerned because of the cold temperatures last night.

    Residents in the area are being asked to check their gardens and outbuildings.

    It is passable but traffic from Black Lane to the Doddington Roundabout is moving very slowly.

    Drivers are being warned to avoid the area if possible.
