Deaths related to asthma could be cut with better GP medical training, says charity

Lives are being put at risk because GPs lack the training they need to treat asthma, according to a study.

More than half the GPs surveyed agreed the number of deaths could be cut with better care.

Neil Churchill, chief executive of the charity Asthma UK, told BBC Radio 5 live: "The majority of GPs got questions wrong."

"Education for healthcare professionals could be improved," Mr Churchill explained on Morning Reports.

"Standards of asthma care have probably slipped over recent years."
