Student Loans Company boss rebuffs criticism
Student Loans Company (SLC) boss Derek Ross responds to criticism from ex-students.
Ross tells Victoria Derbyshire on BBC Radio 5 live that repayments are deducted from salary along with income tax, then credited back to SLC.
"It's the way the tax system operates," he explains. "That is difficult to explain and really not satisfactory for many people."
He concedes: "The repayments system can seem complicated."
