Witty speeches as MPs get to work
As tradition dictates, two MPs have made joke-laden speeches as the Commons began its first session after the State Opening of Parliament.
Known as the "Address in Reply to Her Majesty's Gracious Speech", these speeches mark the start of the debate that follows the Queen's Speech.
First up was Conservative MP Peter Lilley who joked that it was a "rare opportunity to address a full house".
He was followed by the Liberal Democrat MP Don Foster who made light of the difficult task facing an incoming chancellor.
