Huw Stephens - BBC Radio 1
This is my second time at what has to be the most intense new music event thats ever existed, the world famous South by Southwest! So, you've heard about the festival, and thanks to various BBC shows, you can now actually hear the festival. Except, it's not like any other festival. Based in hundreds of buildings in the centre of Austin, bands flock from pretty much every country in the world to play here in front of record labels, promoters, music publishers, drunkards, music fans and radio folk, and are doing so for the twentieth year.
"This year I'm eating fruit and veg and only a few burgers, and its water all the way!"
Last year I was in bed for 24 hours with what the lady in the local shop told me was a texan flu. It was horrible, I was dillusional, I couldn't eat (maybe the worst bit), I was sick and couldn't leave the bed. So this year I'm eating fruit and veg and only a few burgers, and its water all the way! I've been given a camera phone too, so there'll be some holiday snaps up here too:)
I'll be blogging here daily and next weeks One Music show will bring you the best music me and producer louise have come across. The show is on Radio 1 every tuesday, 11pm-1am, and I play a bit of everything realy- ideal for the diverse range of music performed here.
We broadcast a new session every week, and coming up soon on the show is a band I came across busking on the streets of austin in sxsw last year, the juanita family and friends. Who knows what ill get to hear this year!
