BY the time I get to the tent, it's a complete sweatbox. The scent of beer and bodies hangs heavily in the air, and I can't see the stage for mass of bodies, arms aloft, imploring Jet to bring it on.
And so they do - in style! We're treated to a good few numbers from 'Get Born', with a couple of new songs, which admitedly don't quite live up to the quality of the debut album, are mighty damn fine, nonetheless.
By the time the big power ballads kick in, the lighters are being held aloft, and it's all getting a bit emotional in there! But too hot as well, and quite a few punters from up front are fleeing for the exit, red, sweaty, and looking a just a little bit ill. It's a real shame - Jet obviously have mass appeal, judging by the crowd that piled in to the tent at the start of the set - people with families, young kids, middle aged ladies, all sorts. Unfortunately the crowd crush drives alot of them out, which is really sad. Yet another case of a band that's far too big for the tent!
However, most of us hang on in there for what we've been waiting for - the classic track 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl'. The crowd goes ecstatically crazy, but once they've had what they were waiting for, half of them leave! Ooh an audience can be fickle, sometimes.
Best crowd of the night so far for me. And Jet rules!
