OK, so they're from Tennessee, they've been causing a stir with a their own really special, shouty blend of punk garage, so I decide to check them out for the first time live, to see if they're worth all the hype.
Jemina really is a shouty lady! Which I do like; there are still far too many blokes in bands, so from my own personal point of view, the more shouty birds I see on a stage, the better.
Sporting fantastically loud yellow leopardskin mini dress and a real 'in your face attitude', Jemina takes to the stage, shouting 'COME ONNNNN' at a crowd that must number at least two or three thousand. Some of the banter in between the songs is quite frankly unrepeatable, but it pumps up the punters even more, so that even from near the back of the tent, I can see copious amounts of beer flying through the air. I start to worry about the BBC crew up front in the photographers' pit! (amazingly by the end, they have emerged unscathed)
Definitely a garage punk overload experience - and having seen it for myself, BYOP definitely get the adrenalin going. Yessss!
