...they reach for that fierce hunger and it's that sense of urgency - even a hint of nerves - rather than triumphalism that makes this such a charged and memorable set.

I first saw U2 at Wembley in 1987 having missed out at the Milton Keynes bowl a few years earlier , having seen many bands U2 remain to me the definitive big venue / live / hairs on the back of your neck band along with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band . I am really looking forward to their performance and I hope its driven with emotion and passion and the best of their sound . I saw Queen at Live Aid , in 20 minutes they completely knocked everyone over with a performance that was head and shoulders above anyone else . With the back catalogue of U2 they should be able to give a memorable performance tonight , my hairs are no longer on my head , but on my neck they wait in anticipation ))

It is amazing that the Edge is as boring as Bono is pompous. Although I did get quite excited at the thought of Bono being in Rehab (possibly to re-inflate his huge ego), until I remembered he'd hurt his back last year. I think that this also applies to the music. Hendrix used technology to break new ground, and transcend existing styles and techniques. The Edge doesn't, producing more of the same soporific stuff. Hope the protests go well!

I guess I first saw them in Slane 1981. They were not too good, and I thought they had blown any chance they had that day. How wrong can you be :) yes Bono is pompous...edge interview on bbc boring as hell.......but how many of us can stand up there at that age and belt it out night after night // rock on/// long live the live music acts......these guys can no longer be doing this for money... must be for enjoyment...long live rock and roll...
